Inspirational video for a new San Jose Landmark

Why should the capital of innovation continue to be deprived of a world-class landmark? Urban Confluence is working to fix this problem with a global competition to design a modern version of the San Jose Light Tower next to the SAP Center. The submission deadline has been extended to January 15th, 2020 and you can learn more over here.

In the meantime, Urban Confluence has provide an inspirational video (below). I can't wait to see the winning designs!

  1. This is going to be an extraordinary addition to our city. It could have also been be real nice after completion as the pedestrian/commuters walk/drive away from this potentially beautiful San Jose landmark towards downtown (after each Sharks games or concerts at SAP center) to be nicely greeted by the Historic and iconic neon light of De Anza hotel's rooftop sign. This could have been where the amazing future meets the wonderful past for San Josean. But the new proposed hotel at the corner of Almaden Blvd and Santa Clara street (just adjacent to De Anza Hotel) will take this away from all of us by blocking it. I wish the city of San Jose would have cared for our beautiful historical landmarks as it cares for our bright future. Maybe in few hundred years, the city of San Jose approves building another tall hotel or office building, right next to this new monuments (and blocking it) in order to collect more taxes. I am sure when De Anza was built, it did generate the same excitement at the time...
