The researchers were not measuring overall satisfaction with the city -- they were measuring overall job satisfaction. This has nothing to do with the quality of San Jose as a city; instead, it only measures the satisfaction workers feel for jobs located in San Jose.
Well even then, San Jose has the jobs that young people are happiest with.
