The New Home Co. is planning to build 261 condos and townhomes on the corner of East Brokaw and Old Oakland Road. Each home will range from 1,400 sqft to 2,300 sqft and the development will also have a one acre park. Unfortunately there was no mention of retail in the article, but it is still nice to see these infill developments that are very close to North First, Downtown, and the Golden Triangle.

I drive past that corner on Brokaw every day. It is going to be a shopping center with a huge LA Fitness, A Five Guys and a Chipotles so far. There is nothing on the West corner so maybe the condos will go there, but it doesn't seem big enough. We'll see...
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm thinking that the housing will be on the vacant lot on the other side of Brokaw, just to the south. The shopping center is already under construction on the north side of Brokaw.
ReplyDeleteBy the time that this development is open, they'll have the new HOV lanes on 880 finished, too.
Looks like the wrong corner is mapped out above. How about putting in a word somewhere for a Safeway to come to the area? With all these new homes coming, I can't imagine many would want to shop at plethora of asian markets or that they would want to visit the grocery ghettos of N. Capitol Avenue. The Save Mart near Hostetter smells like raw sewage and the Safeway off Berryessa appears to be run by Elmwood inmates. Who do we speak to in order to get a grocery store that doesn't need to be driven to across town? Costco doesn't meet all needs!!
ReplyDeleteDrove by today, since no construction yet.
ReplyDeletei noticed they are building something in the same lot as city sport and chipotle. i am praying it is a non asian grocery store. I live across from panera and where PW supermarket used to be. Now I drive all the way to safeway in milpitas for grocery shopping because everything around here sucks. I dont know why we need 2 asian markets. im crossing my fingers they are putting a sprouts or original joes in soon.
