Over the weekend I had the opportunity to try out Morimoto in Napa, probably the best Japanese restaurant I have ever been to. By the end of the meal, all I could think of was that I want this place in San Jose.
If you could pick one restaurant to bring to San Jose, what would it be?
We already have enough chains that are in other cities, and as for downtown, you're not going to see that level of quality/investment until people actually live in downtown. We could use an upscale tavern with a thoughtful beer list and good sandwiches - and not next to some loud, stupid nightclub (or all the way in Willow Glen).
ReplyDeleteI'd love to San Jose to be a pioneer by having the first truly high end, haute cuisine Mexican restaurant. There's so much potential with the already inventive California-Mexican food we enjoy.
ReplyDeleteHave to agree with a haute Mexican restaurant, think it would be amazing. The closest thing we have is Consuelo in Santana Row and Mezcal Downtown.
ReplyDeleteDitto on the haute-Mexican.
ReplyDeleteWe also need a great Indian food place. Would it be too much to ask for a quality Indian lunch buffet ? :)
As for chains, the Cheesecake factory would be a good thing to draw business to downtown SJ.
A downtown Panera would also be a great addition (I know there's one on Coleman Ave, but downtown-downtown should have its own!)
Did you try Amber India's buffet? Also, I would highly recommend Punjab Cafe on Santa Clara Street, phenomenal.
