Yes please! Anyone living directly south of downtown (like myself) could benefit from a light rail line along south first or south second street going to at least Alma Ave, connecting people to get to Spartan stadium, maybe? Or going to Curtner Ave connecting to the Plant?
I thought they did have plans already (to extend it)...further down Capitol to the Eastridge Mall and further down to Winchester line towards Los Gatos. On a slightly related topic, BART to the South Bay will make the existing VTA system more viable IMO. There will be a transfer point at Milpitas (Great Mall) which is very close (2 - 3 stops) from Tasman, North 1st steet, etc.
Not light-rail, and not my original idea, but I think we should one day have a VTA monorail line running down W. San Carlos street and Stevens Creek BLVD from Diridon Station to De Anza College. It could be cheaper to implement than LRT and perhaps bus rapid transit with a smaller ground footprint. Would be similar to Las Vegas existing monorail transit system.

ReplyDeleteLight rail down San Carlos all the way to Cupertino would be awesome. That would make easier for Apple employees to commute to work.
ReplyDeleteany expansion between downtown and south or to Cupertino would be great
