Anthony Dominguez made a great concept document on what life would be like if SJC were to be moved Moffett field. The document is incredibly well thought out and is worth a look. Would love to hear some of your opinions.
I turned the concept document into a convenient Google Doc that you can access right over here.
Unfortunately, I'm unable to view the document. I received the following error:
ReplyDeleteSorry, we are unable to retrieve the document for viewing or you don't have permission to view the document.
Alternatively, you can view the plain HTML (automatically redirecting).
When it redirects to the plain HTML, I get yet another error. I've tried this in Chrome and Firefox.
Fixed it, thanks!
ReplyDeleteThanks Josh for presenting my idea. Key to this is the possibility of Moffett hosting EXPO 2020, which could bring numerous facility, infrastructure improvements to the airfield and blimp hangars. And for those who aren't aware, the airfield would be covered temporarily for the exhibit (about 8 months). There's definetely a future for Moffett Field; perhaps it will one day be our airport.
ReplyDeleteHi Everyone:
ReplyDeleteOk, so a stupid question, does SJC really need to relocate? I didn't think that it was that busy or at capacity now? Also, what happens to the land where SJC is now?
I agree with Jay, the time to have moved SJC was before they tore down all those homes. There is no reason to move it.
ReplyDeleteSJC is great as is. Moffet Field can become something else.
ReplyDeleteBlah blah blah!
ReplyDeleteI gotta say I don't quite get why this Moffett Field international airport thing comes up every once in a while. We just spend over 1 Billion dollars on SJC (and that was scaled back from what was originally planned). This simply isn't going to fly (no pun intended). Are you serious...an international airport near Mountain View with all those high priced houses...the approach cannot always be over the bay. Palo Alto, Mountain View, Sunnyvale, Los Altos, etc. All these exclusive communities are not (NOT) going to tolerate aircraft noise.
ReplyDeleteI hate this idea, no need to have an expense to move a fully functional airport that is great because it is so clost to down town
ReplyDeleteSorry Josh,
ReplyDeleteIt appears this idea has attracted all the geriatric naysayers from SJInside. Oh well, I guess any form of traffic is a good thing for your blog, negative or positive.
It's just good harmless fun talking about this but who are we kidding here. I've never read SJInside (I assume it's a magazine or a blog) and I'm not a geriatric. I feel that some SJ boosters are obsessed with the idea that SJ needs a dense downtown filled with high-rise towers. They blame the airport for the fact that we have height restrictions (which is true) and so obviously the answer is to move the airport. The other idea floating around is to put the airport in Gilroy. Equally silly!!!
