AXIS residents voted to officially become a NON-SMOKING building. This goes so far as to include even outdoor balconies and patios. I think this is a good move and will create a healthier and more family-friendly environment for residents and guests. Hopefully The 88 and City Heights will follow suit.
The 88 already bans smoking in all common areas.
ReplyDeleteActually this is not completely correct -- Axis still permits smoking on the pool deck.
ReplyDeleteMy understanding is that the 88 has been a non-smoking building since it opened. City Heights will vote on it later this year.
ReplyDeleteSo, this is for all 17 of the people living there?
ReplyDeleteAxis is at about 40% full. It's been picking up a lot this last year or so.
ReplyDeleteThere are over 150 units sold at Axis -- roughly 50%
ReplyDeleteI sure hope the ban does not include e-cigs.
ReplyDeleteI have 2 comments, these are quite unrelated to each other: first, what happens to Axis residents in the (very likely) event of an earthquake - any figures on how much richters these buildings can withstand? second, why would I buy my own home for half a million bucks and not be able to smoke on my patio?
ReplyDeleteThey should all have much higher tolerances for earthquakes than a standard house. During the quake of 89, there wasn't a single high-rise in Downtown San Jose (or San Francisco for that Matter) that collapsed.
ReplyDeleteAs for question #2, it's likely to improve property value in smoke-averse California. If you're a hardcore smoker, probably not a good idea to get a non-smoking condo.
