The San Jose Glass Artist Alliance is a nonprofit focused on the art of glassblowing. In addition to teaching how to make glass sculptures, the have a wide variety of art available for sale. I remember earlier this year they expanded their storefront in SoFA into their neighboring space, adding a new instructional area, couches, and a glass gallery. Well, it turns out they are expanding AGAIN.
By adding a secondary storefront in SoFA, right next to the High Fire Studios on Market--a very cool pottery workshop and gallery--they are more than doubling their presence to a total of 5,500 sqft of space. The new space will have another gallery, space for artists to sublet, and will also hold monthly shows for First Fridays!
It is amazing how SoFA continues to cultivate talented artists and expand. I hope this trend continues for a long time. I'm not sure if the new space will be ready for tomorrow's First Friday, but it should be up and running by January for sure. For more information, click here.
